Edna Mae LaCaze Cardino

March 21, 1944 — November 19, 2020

Lifelong Natchitoches resident Edna Mae LaCaze Cardino passed away at the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in the early morning of Thursday, November 19, 2020. Edna graduated from Natchitoches High School in 1962. She was retired after thirty years of service with the Natchitoches Parish School System. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and working jigsaw puzzles. She loved her pet Boston Terrier, Gus, who was her constant companion, and she enjoyed taking long rides in the country with the love of her life, her husband of fifty-eight years Freddie Cardino. She adored her grandchildren and took special delight in visiting them and hearing about their lives. Preceding Edna in death are her parents Mary Christine Moreau LaCaze and Carroll Ray LaCaze, her husband Freddie Cardino, and her siblings Felix LaCaze and Betty Jo LaCaze Wallace. She is survived by Monique Cardino Snowden and her husband Michael Fraser Snowden of Marietta, Georgia; Freddie Ray Cardino and his wife Elizabeth D. Cardino of Natchitoches; her sisters Nina LaCaze Kay and her husband Kenneth Kay of Robeline, Louisiana, and Lawana Rae LaCaze Groth and her husband Larry Groth of Longview, Texas; and three grandchildren, Joey Brown, Freddie Ray Cardino, Jr., and Madison Elizabeth Snowden. Visitation will be at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home, 848 Keyser Ave. on Sunday, November 22 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with masks and social distancing required. A graveside service for the family will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Natchez, Louisiana, on Monday, November 23, at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers at the graveside service will be Freddie Ray Cardino, Jr., Cory LaCaze, Travis Speed, Joey Brown, and Aaron Odom. Edna’s family wishes to thank the Hospice of Natchitoches who cared for her during her final days.
