Edwina Ferrer-Westrop

August 12, 1940 — September 1, 2024

Natchitoches

Edwina Ferrer-Westrop, 84, of Natchitoches, LA passed away on September 1, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. Edwina was born on August 12, 1940 in Robeline, LA to the late Jeff and Sadie Davis. She married her first husband, Willie Garcia and was widowed at the young age of 40 with five teenagers.

On October 13, 1982, she married Richard Ferrer-Westrop and they combined their families over the next 42 years, building two beautiful homes in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Edwina had a distinct eye for a pleasing aesthetic and designed her gardens and decorated their homes in an extraordinary fashion.

Edwina was also a poet and wrote many wonderful poems that she would share on occasion. She kept her poetry guarded though, she was a clever wordsmith and her poems were excellent observations of humanity. She was a fashionista and had a real interest in clothing, style and fashion trends. She had a unique and well defined personal style. Edwina and Richard traveled extensively throughout their marriage and shared that passion with their adult children, often taking wonderful vacations and enjoying each other's company.

Edwina also showed great empathy and compassion for others, she had an ability to truly understand the feelings of others. She especially shared special relationships with each of her grandchildren and felt she was attuned to their emotions and energies. She was greatly admired and loved by her family.

Edwina was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Sadie Davis, her first husband Willie Garcia, her brothers Jack Davis and Jim Davis, her dearly missed sister Faye Gray and her beloved son-in-law Richard Nunnery. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Richard Ferrer-Westrop, her six daughters, Violet Martin and her husband Terry Martin; Kimberly Boogaerts and her husband Michael; Lisa Nunnery, Abby Garcia, Anita Walker and Elena Ferrer-Westrop; her two sons William Garcia and his wife Rhonda and Sterling Ferrer-Westrop: 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Richard and Edwina built a life together of beauty, travel and knowledge that changed the trajectory of their eight children forever, "and that's a good thing".
