Eleanor LaCaze Garcie Dowden, peacefully passed away at the age of 92 in Natchitoches, LA. She was born in Flora, LA, on January 16, 1932 to Felix and Edna LaCaze
Eleanor spent many years of her life caring for others in the healthcare field, demonstrating compassion and skill in all that she did as a certified nurse assistant and as an EMT. Her commitment to helping those in need left an impact on her colleagues and the community.
Aside from her professional work, Eleanor found joy in cultivating her love for gardening. Her green thumb was evident to all who saw the beauty of her flower bed creations.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, Felix LaCaze and Edna Desadier LaCaze; her son, Thomas Theo Garcie; her first husband, Aubrey Garcie, Sr.; and her second husband, Jack Dowden. She is also preceded by one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
She is survived by a loving family who will cherish her memory forever. Her surviving family members include son Gary Dean Garcie and wife Juanita, daughter Marilyn Diane Johnson, son Aubrey Garcie, Jr., son Marvin Garcie and wife Nancy, daughter Star Hamous and husband Juddy. Eleanor is also survived by numerous grandchildren: Holly Garcie, Shane Garcie, Shanna Prejean and husband Garrett, Marty Garcie, Marlena Goss, Mindy Trahan, Marianna Johnson, Jonathan Garcie and wife Jessica, Chad Garcie, Heidi Garcie, Shane Garcie and wife Mary, Mica Garcie, Christian Cain Hamous and wife Taylor, Cody Hamous; as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services to honor Eleanor's life will be held at 10 am on Wednesday July 3rd at Fern Park Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family will receive friends on July 3rd from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Fern Park Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be her grandsons Jonathan Garcie, Shane Garcie, Cain Hamous and Cody Hamous.
Eleanor LaCaze Garcie Dowden will be remembered as an opinionated person with a tendency of being sassy and feisty. Her presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Community Care and Hospice of Natchitoches for their care and compassion during a difficult time.
