Affectionately known by her family and friends as Nee-Nee, our beloved mother and grandmother passed away on December 3, 2019, in Natchitoches. She was born on July 18, 1924, to Benjamin and Margrete Racine Moreau in Black Lake, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 67 years, B.D. McLaren; a daughter, Melba McLaren Kay; grandsons, Kent Kay and Shane Vascocu; and a great-granddaughter, Meaghan Beaudoin. Nee-Nee held the most important job, she was a homemaker who took great care of her family. She enjoyed gardening and working outside her home. She also enjoyed hunting, fishing, trips to the casino and especially playing bingo. Later in life, she enjoyed watching Nascar with her grandson and Denny Hamlin was her favorite driver. But most importantly she loved everyone in her family in a way that was specific and unique to each of them. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter, Nelda Sue Vascocu and husband Bill; grandchildren, Danny Kay and wife Anita, Donna Kay, and Kimberly Vascocu-Baker. She was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren, 27 great-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great grandchild; a son-in-law, LaVelle Kay; a special niece, Mary Lee; and a dear friend, Connie Hayes. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to Anita Kay who took such great care of our Nee-Nee during such a difficult time.
