Funeral service for Leon McQueen will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, April 17th at Coldwater Baptist Church in Hagewood, LA with Bro. Gary Bowlin officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Coldwater Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 16th from 5 pm until 7 pm at Coldwater Baptist Church located at 6558 Hwy 6, Hagewood, LA 71457. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Britton McQueen, Ragan McQueen, Paul McQueen, Jr., Gary Deblieux, Huel Jones and Jim Briggs.
Leon McQueen, a man known for his unwavering work ethic and dedication to providing for his family, passed away on April 12, 2024, at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home. He was born on December 4, 1931, in Natchitoches Parish, LA.
Leon led a life marked by resilience and commitment. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp and was honorably discharged in 1952, embodying the values of service and sacrifice throughout his military tenure.
A devoted husband, Leon was married to Nellie Long McQueen for 63 years, sharing a bond that stood the test of time. Together, they raised their children and built a legacy of love and strength. Leon is preceded by his beloved wife Nellie, his son Michael, parents, Ernest L. McQueen and Mary Evelyn Sibley McQueen.
Leon is survived by his son Steve McQueen and his wife Cindy, his grandsons Britton McQueen and Ragan McQueen, his sister Shirley McQueen Tyler, and a daughter in law Noelle McQueen. His impact extended beyond his immediate family to include numerous nieces and nephews who held him dear in their hearts.
As we bid farewell to Leon McQueen, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and a deep commitment to family. His presence will be deeply missed but his memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
