Floyd Antley, Sr. was called home October 15, 2022 surrounded by family in Natchitoches, LA. Floyd was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Navy. He was a retired employee of South-Central Bell. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and taking his sons fishing at their camp at Sandy Point. He enjoyed gardening and could grow just about anything. He became a widower in 1984 and after some time married Ione Gilbert and moved to Shreveport, LA. He then enjoyed having visitors, playing golf and having fish fries. He had a kind heart and loved helping others. When the weather permitted, he enjoyed sitting out on the porch and watching the different species of birds that would come to his bird feeders. Floyd was also an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. He also loved piddling around the house and growing beautiful plants and shrubbery. Floyd was also a Shriner. He is preceded in death by his Parents Franklin and Mamie Antley, brother Franklin (Fay) Antley, sisters Katie Berry, Ruth Crow, Shirley Rachal, Lucille Tanner, Bobby Thompson, first wife Rose M Antley, grandsons, Rickey Antley Jr, and Matthew Gilbert, second wife Ione Gilbert Antley. He is survived by his sons Floyd Antley Jr, Rickey Antley Sr, Gary Antley (Robin), stepsons David Gilbert, Steve Gilbert and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday October 20, 2022 from 5pm until 7 pm at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be conducted Friday October 21, 2022 at 2 pm at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Brother Ford Adkins officiating. Those honored to be pallbearers are Floyd Antley III, Tim Lewis, William (Bill) Lewis, Robert Snelling, Isaiah Basco II and Garrick Vercher. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association.
