A service to honor the life of Mr. Floyd Herbert Glover, Jr. will be at 2 pm Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Bethany Baptist Church in the Bethany Community, LA. Burial will follow at McCaskill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 am until service time at Bethany Baptist Church located at 266 LA Hwy 1221, Marthaville, LA 71450. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Paul Boutte, Jr., Richie Allen, Ben Allen, Nathan Boutte, Mark English, and Billy Stephenson. Floyd Glover, 94 years of age, and a long-time resident of the Bethany Community, passed away Monday, April 9, 2018. He was born on September 13, 1923 to Floyd Herbert Glover, Sr. and Julia Cleo (Darnell) Glover in Marthaville, LA. He always held a strong bond to Bethany Baptist Church. That was where he accepted Christ as his savior and served as a deacon for many years. Floyd graduated from Marthaville High School in 1941 and earned a scholarship to attend LSU in Baton Rouge. Fate would not have him in Baton Rouge and he moved to Beaumont, TX, where he met the love of his life, Iris Nell Fielder, and God blessed them with four daughters. He proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Iris Nell; parents, Joe and Cleo Glover; sister, Esther Roberts, grandson, Michael Roberts, and son in law, Bill Smith. He is survived by his daughters, Carolyn and husband Gerald Roberts, Norma and husband David Neuman, Dawn Smith widow of Bill, and Iris Julie and husband Richard Allen; brother, Johnny Glover and wife Joyce; two special sisters in law, Maxine and Ruth Fielder; a special nephew, Jerry Johnson and wife Diana; and a special niece, Dianne Fielder Gore as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and friends. He was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
