Frances Hampton Davis, age 92, with her children by her side, went to her heavenly home November 1, 2022, at her home in Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches on Saturday November 5th. Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 5 at 3:00 pm at Memory Lawn Cemetery. Pastor John Korlaske of Ellerbe Road United Methodist Church in Shreveport will officiate. Born March 8, 1930, in Natchitoches, Frances spent a number of years working at various sale barns and rodeos in the Natchitoches area. As a native of Natchitoches, she was Deputy Registrar of Voters until her retirement and marriage to Carl “Frog” Davis, Jr. of Clarence in 1974. After moving to Shreveport, they traveled for 26 years to many places around the world from Hong Kong to Hawaii, dancing as often as they could. After Carl’s death in 2000, she became a Real Estate Agent, danced at least 3 nights a week, and then became a Private Investigator at the age of 76. Her adventures as a PI often kept her family laughing. Until the last six months, she continued to be healthy enough to travel and enjoy life. Frances was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Ruth and E. A. Hargis; her children’s father, Rick Hampton; and, granddaughter, Drue Hyams. Survivors include daughters, Lana Hampton Wright of Memphis TN; Linda Hampton Hyams (Denny) and Barbara Hampton Driscoll of Shreveport; Debbie Davis Arola (Ken) and Rebecca Davis Smith, of Beaumont, TX. Frances leaves to cherish her memory grandchildren Denis Hyams (Ana) of Houston, TX; Denise Hyams of Tulsa, OK; David Hyams (Abby) Washington, D.C., Tamara Wright of Memphis, TN; Kelli Driscoll Crews (Nick) of Tulsa, OK; Christopher Driscoll (Kelly Jean) of Boise, ID; Shaun Tilburg (Maya) of Arlington, VA; Daniel Smith (Jasmine) of East Palo Alto, CA, and Chelsea Hippler Cangelosi (John) of McKinney, TX. Also, she leaves 12 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Connie Davis Thompson of Lakemont, Georgia. A special thank you is given by the family to Arada Armstrong, her fulltime caregiver, who gave all to her while she remained in at home. Pallbearers include Ken Arola, Christopher Driscoll, David Hyams, Denis Hyams, Nick Crews, Todd Hampton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission, Shriner’s Hospital, St. Jude’s or a charity of your choice.
