Wake and funeral services celebrating the life of Gary Lirette ("PawPaw") will begin with visitation on Sunday, January 30 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a rosary at 6:30 pm. Another visitation will be Monday, January 31 at the funeral home at 8:00 am. The funeral mass will be at The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Natchitoches at 10:00 AM with the burial following at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches. Gary was born February 10, 1945, in Houma, LA to Norris and Ruby Lirette. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Norris Jr. and Richard; and sister, Paulette. Survivors include his beloved wife, Louise Bergeron Lirette, who he was married to for 54 years; his sister, Connie Lirette, 6 children: David Lirette (Melissa), Aaron Lirette (Alicia), Stephen Lirette (Elizabeth), John Lirette (Sarah), Clare Schoenborn (Bobby), Sarah Sanders (Garrett), 46 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Gary passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022, in his home surrounded by his beloved family after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Gary graduated from LSU with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and was an avid Tiger Fan his whole life. He worked as an engineer, cattle farmer, chicken farmer and was involved with several successful businesses that continue to this day. He was a good and faithful Catholic man who touched so many through his life as evidenced by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
