A service to celebrate the life of George Holland will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Christian Harmony Baptist Church in the Trichel Community with Pastor David Matlock officiating. Interment will follow at St. Maurice Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Friday, June 9th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home and again on June 10th from noon until service time at Christian Harmony Baptist Church.
George was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fannie and Clarence “Bull” Ballard; mother, Lou Ford; father, Pete Holland; stepfather, Frank Ford; sisters, Nancy Boutwell and Jean Buras; and a great-granddaughter, Rosalyn Doorman.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Holland; children, Melinda Corley (Derek), David Holland (Andria), Haywood “Bubba” Moss (Amanda), Stacey Carrillo, Sharon Holland, Jacob Smith (Sarah), Joshua Smith, and Anna Smith. He was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
While there are countless things that could be said about George, he was a long-time member of Christian Harmony Baptist Church and served as a reverend for over 20 years. He was diligent in spreading the gospel to many people throughout the years. Next to his Savior, George’s top priority has always been his family. He was an incomparable father and husband for nearly 40 years. He loved being the preacher for the Butte Tribe of Bayou Bourbeaux and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time in nature. He will forever be loved and missed by all that knew him.
