Harrell Roberson, age 95, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019, after a lengthy illness. He was born March 17, 1924, in Union County, Arkansas to Henry Courtney and Clyde Lela Harrell Roberson. After the early death of his mother, he and his sister were raised by their grandparents Tomas Edgar and Minnie Violet Tice Harrell. Harrell Roberson was retired from Acme Cement where he worked as the company’s manager. Mr. Roberson served in the Army Air Corp during WWII as a Ball Turret Gunner in the 379th Bombing Group which was awarded the Grand Slam Medal for the most bombs dropped with the most accuracy with the least causalities. His squadron flew 33 missions. In his younger years, he was an active member of the Civil Defense program of Natchitoches, the Waterworks District 1 Board, the CB Radio Club, the American Legion, and Lifetime member and former Commander of the VFW. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Natchitoches. He was also an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping when not watching baseball or football. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry Courtney and Clyde Harrell Roberson, wife of 52 years Martha Lee Waddell Roberson, daughter Susan Marie Roberson Pullig, son-in-law Robert Nance, and sister and brother-in-law Reva Nell Roberson and Doyle Norman. He is survived by his wife of 19 years Evelyn Roe Roberson of Natchitoches, LA; 3 daughters Carolyn Roberson Nance of Shawnee, OK; Ginger Roberson Jordan (Mark) of Florien, LA; Becky Roberson Shoemaker (Mark) of Houston, TX; 7 Grandchildren: Robert Nance, Kate Nance, Ted Pullig (Trina), David Jordan, Daniel Jordan (Brittney), Jessica Shoemaker, Holly Shoemaker and great-grandson Kevin Rhett Jordan. He is also survived by 5 stepchildren Ladelle Roe St Andry (Nelson) of Natchitoches, LA; Steve Roe (Pat) of Bossier City, LA; Tracy Roe (Virginia) of Shreveport, LA; Sarah Roe Pleasant (Wayne) of Marthaville, LA; Claire Roe Elerbee (Don) of Zwolle, LA. and numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and step great-great-grandchildren. Services will be Saturday, November 30, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Blanchard-St Denis Funeral Home. Visitation will precede the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Burial with military honors will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Roberson and his family are very appreciative of the staff at Louisiana Extended Care Hospital, Dr. Bryan Picou, Jr. and Dr. Bryan Picou, Sr for their care during a difficult time. A very special thank you to his long-time caregiver Penny Guin for her dedicated and tender care for the past 7 years.
