A service to honor the life of Hayward Odean Steadman will be at 3:00 pm Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Old Bethel Baptist Church in Natchitoches with Bro. Jay Jones and Bro. Malcolm Durr officiating. Burial will follow at Old Bethel Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Friday, August 24th at Old Bethel Baptist Church located at 504 Old Bethel Church Road, Natchitoches, LA, 71457. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Lane Steadman, John Thompson, Justin Steadman, Thomas Webb, Archie Dore, and Samuel Steadman. Hayward, also known by many as Dean was 75 years of age and a resident of Ajax, LA passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 17, 1943, to Sam and Mary (Cox) Steadman in Natchitoches, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sammie Baul and Gene Campbell; and a brother, Pierce Steadman. Hayward was a devoted husband, loving father and faithful friend to many. He was a long-time member of Old Bethel Baptist Church and loved fellowship with his church family. A service technician by trade, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. He had an artistic side and sculpted beautiful artwork out of wood and other materials. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Dianne Steadman of Ajax; children, Novalea Kelly of Pelican, LA, Dean Steadman of Bossier City, Kerry Henderson of Titusville, FL, Stacey Henderson of Grand Saline, TX, and Kim Thompson of Haughton; brothers, Stan Steadman, Sam Steadman, and Reed Steadman; grandchildren, Laci Thompson, Haley Thompson, Jessica Henderson, Jaime Henderson, Fletcher Burshell, Mallie Munn, Carrah Kelly and Krystle Neal; great grandchildren, Kason Page and Remington Lopez.
