Helen Walters passed into glory peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, February 6th at 5:00 am. The memorial service will be held Saturday, February 17th at 1:00 pm, in the Chapel at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral home in Natchitoches, LA. Helen retired in California from the Los Angeles College District as a Systems Analyst/Computer Programmer. After retirement she worked for the Motion Picture Industry as an EMT. Her 91st birthday would have been on the 28th of this month. While she was able, Helen enjoyed fishing, camping and boating. She and Red (deceased husband) were both past members in the Marina Del Ray Yacht Club, and they enjoyed being outdoors, laughing, boating and fishing. Helen loved to play cards and enjoyed a weekly pinochle game and lunch with her good friend Betty. Those card games always brought much laughter from Helen. Helen was a great person who loved to volunteer her time as well. For years, she volunteered at Robeline Food Pantry, faithfully serving others in need. She was truly a good woman as well as a fiercely loyal mother to her children. Helen leaves 2 sons, David (wife Pat) of Reno, NV, John (wife Paula) of Robeline, LA, sister Judith (husband Mike) of Los Osos, CA, Grandson Chris, and Granddaughters Jenny, and Sarah. She was preceded in death by her husband Red, eldest son Terry, Grandsons Jesse and Buster. Her family would like to say thank you to Nana Parker for your 24 hour care and concern. Thanks also to Daphne, Doctor’s Bryan and Margret Picou, as well as a special thanks to all the home health nurses and many aides that helped make our mother’s last days on earth comfortable. You are all such a blessing. We will miss you Helen, until we meet again…
