Henry Earl Metoyer was born on October 20, 1943 in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Henry moved to Chicago with his family in the I960"s and joined the US Navy. After his service. he returned to Chicago where he went to school to become an HVAC Engineer.
He worked on the Sears Tower, John Hancock UIC Hospital in Chicago, just to name a few.
He met his wife Mary Lucille Metoyer in the 1970's. After 30 years he retired and eventually returned to his birth state of Louisiana and his extended family.
Henry embraced life with enthusiasm, finding joy in travel, boat cruising, playing cards and fishing.
He cherished spending time with his grandchildren and engaging in sports. always eager to create lasting memories with his family. His warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As a proud Veteran, Henry Earl Metoyer honorably served his country as an Aviation Structural Mechanic. He was a man of deep faith, actively participating in his community and dedicating his time as a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Augustine Catholic Church.
He passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his beloved siblings Victor Junior Metoyer and Mary Honore; parents Victor Sr and Clothilde Metoyer and his granddaughter Lennice Gray.
He was a devoted husband to his loving wife Mary Lucille Metoyer for 37 years.
He leaves behind two step children, Joanne Wallace and Jerry Jackson; Grandchildren, Donald Wallace, Darryl Wallace, Lawanda Wallace and Larry Kizer; Great Grandchildren, Michael Earl Duke (Corina), Victor Bardney Jr. (Rhonda), Shaciara Kizer, Armon Kizer, Devin Wallace, Kristopher Wallace and Victoria Bardney; Great-Great Grandchildren, Victor Bardney Ill, Karson Bardney, Taylor Smith, Aubree Weston, Amarlon Sanders, Alberka Russell, Michael Duke Ill, Micah Duke and special grandchildren Robert Martin, Keisha Bush, Laderrick Williams, Victor Bardney Sr., Kevin Green and Renee Cochran McIntosh (Darnell "BIG TWIN" Mclntosh) as well as a host of nieces. nephews, relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Isle Brevelle, LA with Father William “Bill” Gearheard serving as celebrant. He will be entombed, with military honors, in the St. Augustine Catholic Mausoleum after the Mass. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Friday, December 13th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.
