Edwin Andrew Freeman, born February 7, 1934, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, with his family by his side. A memorial service to honor Jack’s life will be held at Blanchard-St. Denis on Friday at 2:00 p.m. Visitation starting at 12:00 p.m. with Bro. Warren Maxwell and Bro. Bill Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery in Tullos, LA. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Nina and Oscar Freeman, and sister, Ethel Mae Weeks. He went by the name of Jack because this was a name his grandfather called him as a young child. In 1958, he married the love of his life, Willa Long Freeman. After graduating from NSU, he taught school one year at Maplewood Jr. High in Sulpher, LA. He served six months in the Army as 2nd Lieutenant and 12 years in the National Guard. Jacked loved math and numbers and worked in the business office for Continental Can in Jonesboro for 10 years before working on his masters in accounting at NSU. After graduation, he worked in the accounting office at NSU for many years and later became Business Manager for the Athletic Department until his retirement. After retiring, he opened up a Bed and Breakfast called the Breazeale House. He loved building and remodeling in his spare time and was able to restore the Breazeale House to a fine Bed and Breakfast. Jack loved visiting with people from all over the world and never met a stranger. He could fix anything from plumbing, electrical, and carpentry, but most of all he loved to build things. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family and was a strong Christian man. He will truly be missed by all his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Willa Long Freeman of Tullos, sons, Ty Freeman of Natchitoches, and Tim Freeman from Benton, Arkansas and wife Catherine O’bryant Freeman; daughter, Tanya Billings and husband Rusty Billings from Bossier City, LA; grandchildren, Bruce Tobin, Thomas Freeman, Tiffany Willis and husband Chad, Macie and Madison Billings; great grandchildren, Caitlyn Tobin, Raylee Tobin, Aidan Freeman, Ava Freeman, Jett Freeman, Hallie Willis and Ella Willis, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Mann and husband Horace Mann of Keithville, LA. Those honored to serve as Pallbearers will be Carl Jones, Warren Massia, Steve Long, Bill Weeks, Rusty Billings, and Larry Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be David Burnham and Jim Rougeau.
