A service to honor the life of Mr. Marion Lee (Jackie) Gorum, Jr. will be at 10 am Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Butch Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at St. Maurice Cemetery in St. Maurice, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Friday the 15th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Jackie, 68 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 21, 1950, to Gennie and Jack Gorum in Natchitoches, LA. A farmer by trade, Jackie was a hard worker and good provider for his family. Jackie proudly served for six years in the Louisiana Army National Guard and was honorably discharged. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him. Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, Gennie Mae Gorum and Marion L. “Jack” Gorum and his brother, Bobby Gorum.He is survived by his sons, Casey Gorum and Christopher Gorum and his fiancee' Tonya Coe; grandchildren, Hailey Gorum, Mallory Gorum, and Madison Gorum; sister, Juanita Garcie and her husband Gary; mother of his children, Laura Gorum; a very special aunt, Ruth Moreau; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Those honored to serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers include Shane Garcie, Ken Fletcher, Troy Fletcher, Danny Abraham, Chad Abraham, Brad Abraham, Gary Garcie, Kenneth Fletcher, James Abraham, Dean Abraham, John Abraham, David Abraham, Raymond Abraham, Louis Abraham, Richard Powell, and Freddie Hallman. The special friends of his sons whose lives were touched by “Mr. Jackie” include Dudley Cedars, Thomas Jenkins, Cam Hallman, Adam Aton, Brian Arthur, Derrick Mitchell, Justin LaGrange, Brian Eaves, and Tony Salim.
