Our Dad, confidant, Paw Paw, uncle, son, father in law, husband and a good friend too many is now in the arms of loved ones gone before us. May he be in a better place with no hurt or pain. Jim loved life, his family and friends. He possessed a true heart and a determined spirit to accomplish everything he put his mind to. He worked hard and played hard. His greatest passion was the love for family and many were blessed to be a part of his family. Jim’s career in electrical engineering gained him much respect. He devoted many years of knowledge to his craft and was highly thought of in his profession. Jim had a love for the outdoors, especially Kisatchie, which he considered his second home. He enjoyed camping and made many memories and friends that will always be a part of his legacy. Jim was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Kyle Buckley; mother, Clydelle Whatley Compton; father, Luther Thompson Whitten; sister, Lynne McCommon; and a brother, Dana McCommon. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Judith S. Whitten; daughters, Terri Buckley and husband Eddie, Debbi Byles and husband Phillip, and Brandy Walker and husband Josh; a niece he loved like his daughters, Christy Leonard and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Victoria Buckley-Schwenke, Austin Whitten, Haley Whitten, Parker Byles, Mason Pitts, Briley Pitts and Tanner Walker; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Rowyn, Elisa, Brody, Braxton, Declan, Brianna, and Kylie. A service to honor his life will be at 11 am on Monday, April 29, 2019, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Adams Cemetery near Olla, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Sunday, April 28th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Chris Howard, Jeff Nelson, James Winn, Charles Brossett, Wade Stephens, Justin Tibbett, and Taylor Jordan. Honorary pallbearers will be Benny O’Brien, Bob Benson, Ken Tassin, Doug Revels, Ronnie Granger, Ronnie Poche’ and Trey Guin.
