Jessie Cole, 82, of Bellwood, Louisiana, went to be with his Lord on April 29, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. Jessie was born in Center Point, Louisiana on July 28,1939. He moved to Bellwood at age 19 with a logging company where he met and married his loving wife, Gwen Norsworthy Cole, and remained until his death. Jessie was a loving husband, grandfather, uncle, neighbor, and friend to many. Often referred to as “Uncle Jessie”, he was quite the storyteller and always willing to lend a helping hand. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, and was known for his love of being outside on a tractor, gardening, and fixing any and everything. He dedicated many years to driving a school bus for Natchitoches Parish and drove many miles on a Coca-Cola truck. He was quite the handyman for the Bellwood Water System and was very active in the upkeep of both the Bellwood and Shady Grove Cemeteries for many years. Some of his family and friends fondest memories include time with him at Norsworthy’s Store in Bellwood. He was preceded in death by his parents E.L. and Mary Wilson Cole; brothers, Odis Cole, Henry Cole, I.L Cole, and Emeric Cole: sisters, Rosella McCann, Julia Watts, Mattie Franks, Ollie Ryder, Lucy Harmson, and Katie Lavespere. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gwen; daughter, Sheila Warner and husband Kevin; son, Roger Cole; grandchildren, Justin Warner and wife Alexa, Hailey Warner, Hanna Warner, Matthew Cole, and Tyler Cole; two brothers, Butch Cole and wife Sandra, and Kelly Cole; along with many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Pallbearers include Justin Warner, Matthew Cole, Craig Cole, Greg Norsworthy, Mark Norsworthy, and Rayburn Cole. Visitation will be from 6 until 9 P.M. Tuesday, May 3, and the funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 4 at Blanchard St. Denis in Natchitoches, LA with David Norsworthy officiating. Burial will follow at the Shady Grove Cemetery in Bellwood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bellwood Shady Grove Cemetery Association, 466 Delton Masters Rd., Provencal, LA 71468. The family would like to thank Hospice of Natchitoches for the wonderful care they provided these last few months. We also want to express our love and gratitude to Jessie’s sister-in-law, Laverne Franks, for assisting with his care.
