Jodie Moneé (Free) LaCour, age 59, died on December 18, 2024, of medical complications at her home in Natchitoches, LA. She was born on February 26, 1964 in Houston, TX, to James Dewitt Free and Theresa Jeanette (Veazey) Free. She graduated from Westlake High School in Louisiana and later obtained an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Central Oregon Community College. She worked in retail store management at various companies in Louisiana, Texas, and Oregon. She loved her years playing in the band in high school and had a particular love for her nieces, great-nieces & great-nephews.
Jodie is survived by her brother, Michael Free and wife Dale of Vicksburg, MS; her uncle, Jimmie Free and wife Carol of Bossier City, LA; her nieces, Desireé Austin and husband Thomas of Clarence, LA, Kayla Westbrook and husband Peyton of Platte Center, NE, and Fallon Dale and husband Jared of Tonsina, AK; great-nieces Aubrey and Maya Westbrook, Jewel Austin, Josephine and Judith Dale; great-nephews James and John Dale; and various aunts and uncles, cousins, and dear friends. She is also survived by her treasured support dog, Bandit. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Dana Free and Reneé Free Denham.
A brief Celebration of Life will be held for Jodie at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home on February 28, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. Her brother Michael and nieces Desireé and Kayla will speak. Jodie’s ashes will be interred afterward at Progress Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to the Heart of Louisiana Humane Society, 1617 E. Lafayette St., Winnfield, LA 71483.
