A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. John Overton Grayson will be held at 10 am on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Derek Ducote serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fern Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Friday, June the 10th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with recitation of the Holy Rosary to be held at 6 pm in the funeral home chapel. John was born on May 6, 1935 to Ollie Overton Grayson and Angela Gillen Grayson in Natchitoches, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Betty Grayson Jones, Billie Rae Grayson Vercher, and Judy Grayson Broadwater; and a brother, George Grayson. John retired from the U.S. Postal service with 42 years of service. He made numerous friends during his time with the Post Office. He was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church. John was active with the Knights of Columbus where he attained 3rd degree honors and served on the initiation committee. He served as a teacher and sponsor for the RCIA, an organization that teaches catholic principles for adults that want to become Catholic. Above all, he was a devoted father and grandfather that deeply loved his family. During his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by so many that knew and loved him. He is survived by his daughters, Pam Grayson Grant and husband Stacey and Brenda Grayson Louque and husband Mark; a son, John Darrell Grayson and wife Charlotte; and former wife, who remained a dear friend, Ruby LaCaze Grayson. He was blessed with 5 grandchildren, John Randall Grayson, Brandon Grayson and wife Ashlee, Bryan Grant and wife Hilary, Brady Louque and Natalie Louque; as well as 5 great grandchildren, John Aaron Grayson, Cole Grayson, Waylon Grayson, Sadie Grant, and Corbin Grant; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include John Randall Grayson, Brandon Grayson, Mark Louque, Brady Louque, Stacey Grant, and Bryan Grant. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his nephews and Knights of Columbus Council 1357 members.
