John Lee Kerry, Sr. was born on July 25, 1955 in Delhi, LA to his parents Thomas Pautaleon Kerry and Gladys Lucille Basco. He passed away on August 7, 2024 in Natchitoches.
He is preceded in death by his parents, former wife but still dear friend Agnes Kerry, brother Thomas Lee Kerry (T.L.), sister Nelder Mae Kerry-Wilbanks, two daughters Chelsea and Angel Kerry, niece Margaret Wilbanks, best friends Scott Kent Young (Freida) (Emilee) and Rickey Wayne Bolton (Erica).
Left to cherish his memory is his sons: John Lee Kerry Jr. (Bucky) and wife Vanna of Noble, LA, Thomas Ambrose Kerry (Tommy) and wife Christy of Humble, TX, Samuel Aaron Kerry (Sammy) of Liberty, TX, Korydane Richard Schisler (Kory); daughter: Dorothy Mae Kerry (Mae-Bird) of Robeline, LA; grandchildren: Donovan Williams, Delanna Blackburn, Taylor Calk, Dakota Blackburn, Madelynn Blackburn, Mason Kerry, and Jeremiah Kerry; nieces and nephews: John Wilbanks, Loretta Wilbanks, Vernon Wilbanks, and Theresa Wilbanks.
He was a man of unwavering faith, a Strong Christian who held a deep love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. John's daily ritual included delving into the pages of his Bible, finding guidance in the verses. His dedication to his spiritual beliefs was evident in his annual tradition of reading the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation, a testament to his profound connection with his faith. Apart from his spiritual devotion, John had a great passion for American Football, particularly for the Dallas Cowboys. Described as a man who dearly loved his children, family was at the core of John's being. His warm personality and affectionate nature endeared him to those around him, making family gatherings all the more special. His presence at these occasions, filled with laughter and joy, brought light to the hearts of family and friends alike. In his leisure time, John found pleasure in embarking on road trips and exploring new sights. Whether it was a spontaneous adventure or a planned outing, he was always ready to enjoy a good time with his loved ones, creating bonds and memories that will be cherished forever.
Services to honor and remember John will take place on Friday August 16, 2024, starting with a Visitation at 11:00 AM, followed by the Funeral Service at 1:00 PM, both at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Mora, LA. The Burial will follow at Flatwoods Cemetery.
