John A Young

Funeral Services for John A. Young will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 10 A.M. at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lambertown Cemetery in Robeline.

Visitation will be held from 8 A.M. until the time of service in the funeral home.

John Allen Young was born on March 17, 1939 in Shreveport, LA to Leonard and Nancy Clay Young.  He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Maxine Odom Pittman, Georgia Elaine Hamley, Patsy Jo Bennett, and Alma Jean Theriot.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Young; one daughter, Crystal Kilmer Lemay and husband, George; 3 sons, John A. Young, II and wife, Charla, John E. Young, and Trystin “Trey” Young; 2 grandchildren, Ashley Wides and husband Robbie and Dustin Mayfield; 2 sisters, Ruth Ellis and Alice Marie Stover and husband, Winston; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

John was born in Shreveport and moved to Natchitoches at an early age.  He joined the Air Force at age 17.  John served with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Department for 5 years.  He was employed with Todd Oil as a transport driver for 19 years.  He served as past Master of Simcoe Walmsley Lodge in 1995 and 1996.  He loved his family and let everyone know.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be John E. Young, Trystin “Trey” Young, Dustin Mayfield, Stephen White, George Lemay, and Robbie Wides.  Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Alonzo, Shannon Hall, Bobby Hall, and Jimmy Hall.
