A service to honor the life of Mr. Joseph Wilkie Basco will be at 2 pm Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. T.J. Boyd officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Monday, May 21, 2018, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Wilkie Basco, 76 years of age, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018, with his family by his side. He was born on June 5, 1941, to George Washington Basco, Sr. and Rusha Mitchell Basco in Gorum, LA. Wilkie was a true family man and was an excellent provider for his family. He was a hard worker and spent his entire career in the oil and gas industry and retired from Penrod Drilling after 25 years of service with them. He loved to garden and enjoyed working on cars and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was a great mechanic and could repair anything – even if he didn’t have all the correct parts. His greatest treasure on earth was spending time with his family. He was devoted to his wife, Annette and loved to spoil his children and grandchildren because he deeply cared so much for all of them. Wilkie had a great sense of humor and would always perfectly time a joke or gesture to bring a smile to anyone’s face, even if he wasn’t feeling well. He made everyone around him feel like they were the center of his attention. But the greatest treasure in his life was his relationship with his Lord. He loved Jesus Christ and we take comfort in knowing that on Friday he received his eternal reward. He is survived by his wife, Annette Basco of Provencal; son Dennis Wilkie Basco and wife Brenda of Natchitoches; daughters, Rusha Pullig and husband Jimmy of Provencal and Denice Jordan and husband Kerry of Downsville, LA; grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, Dalton and Dustin Basco, Ashton and Skylar Baker, and Kara and Kale Pullig; a great-granddaughter, Ayyla Basco; and a brother, George Washington Basco, Jr. of Derry. He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 sisters. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Shane Dooley, Bruce Baker, Dustin Basco, Dalton Basco, Jerry Lafayette, and Timothy “T. J.” Bradham. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Basco and Kale Pullig.
