He is preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Vicki Ann Kramer Gahagan; his parents, Harry Quitman and Ruth Sconyers Gahagan; and one brother, Harry Quitman Gahagan, Jr. Fred was born in Alexandria, LA. He is a graduate of the 1969 class of Bolton High School. Fred attended LA Tech University, followed by Louisiana State University where he received his Juris Doctorate. In 1976, Fred and Vicki moved to Natchitoches where he practiced law at Gahagan & Gahagan Law Firm. In 1984, he was elected City Court Judge, enjoying 36 years of service to the community. Fred then retired in January of 2021. One of Fred’s favorite activities was fishing with his two sons and with his close group of friends, “The Lost Souls” fishing crew. Over the years, Fred and his sons spent much of each Fall at their hunting camp in West Texas. When the weather was right, Fred could most often be found at his second home, the golf course. His family agrees that it was impossible for him to a better husband, father, or grandfather. Fred will be remembered by many for his laid back, calm demeanor. Also, his integrity, honesty, and sense of humor had positive impacts on the lives of all who knew him. Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Fred Sconyers Gahagan, Jr. and wife Jennifer, and Victor Kramer Gahagan; granddaughters, Tenley Marie and Hanna Ruth; and brother, William Wiley Gahagan.
