Kenneth Evans McIntyre, Jr.

Kenneth Evans McIntyre, Jr. was born on December 24, 1941, to Bertie Arnold McIntyre and Kenneth Evans McIntyre, Sr.  He is survived by one sister, Erma McIntyre Free and her husband James Free.  He was married to Judy Walcher McIntyre in 1966.  They have been married for 52 years.  They have four children:  Kenneth Evans McIntyre III and his wife, Pamela, from Houston, Texas;  Don  McIntyre and his wife, Sara, from Estes Park, Colorado; Marc McIntyre and his wife, Leigh, Lafayette, Louisiana; Megan McIntyre Burns and her husband, Paul Burns, from Windham, New Hampshire. Seven grandchildren:  Kenneth Evans McIntyre IV, Emma Grace McIntyre (Houston), Lena Rose McIntyre, Cason Hudson McIntyre (Estes Park),  Luke Michael McIntyre, Ryan Thomas McIntyre (Lafayette), Henry Theodore Burns (Windham, New Hampshire). Evans graduated from the University of Louisiana, Monroe in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science degree and then in 1972 with a Master of Science degree in Geology.  In 1964, he worked on a National Science Foundation grant and mapped the lower coastal terrace of Louisiana.  He also participated in a research study to spot check the geologic map of Guatemala.  Evans worked in the oil and gas industry as an exploration and development geologist from 1969-1990.  From 1991-97, he worked in environmental geology with Class 1 and Cavern wells.  From 1997-2007, he worked at the Louisiana Office of Conservation, Department of Natural Resources.  An important part of Evans life was spent involved in mission trips.  For 15 years, Evans led or participated in annual mission trips to the Mayan people who lived in the Yucatan area of Mexico.  He was able to get a hospital built to serve the Mayan people and was involved in annual construction projects at the Priscilla School and the local Presbyterian seminary in Merida.  Many small Mayan churches also benefitted from Vacation Bible Schools put on by each mission team. Throughout his life, Evans actively supported many local and foreign missions. Visitation will be Saturday, October 27th at 10:00 am at the First United Methodist Church, Natchitoches, LA, followed by a Celebration of Life Service in the church sanctuary at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send a donation to the “Evans Mission Fund” at First United Methodist Church of Natchitoches.  This money will be used to support both local and foreign missions.
