A Mass of Christian burial for Kenneth Wayne Hernandez will be Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Church in Natchitoches with Father Irion St. Romaine serving as celebrant. The family will receive friends from 5pm until 9pm on Friday, November 8th, 2024 at Blanchard St Denis Funeral Home; with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00pm with Father Tommy Paul. Interment will follow after the service at Fern Park Cemetery in Natchitoches.
Kenneth Wayne Hernandez, age 83, passed away after a brief illness on November 5, 2024, in Natchitoches, LA. He was born in Shreveport, LA to Andrew and Bertha Hernandez. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Oneitha, his parents, brothers Raymond Hernandez and Donald Hernandez. He is survived by his two sons, Michael Hernandez and wife Bonnie, Kenneth Earl Hernandez, and daughter Brenda McCain and husband Sam.
He was blessed with 6 grandchildren: Christopher Hernandez and wife Heather, Logan McCain and wife Chelsea, Eric Hernandez and wife Gabriela, Kaitlyn McCain and Corey Ezernack, Jessica Butler and husband Robbie, and Melissa Hernandez. He had 10 great grandchildren: Kody Ramirez, Isabella McClure, Jordyn Hernandez, Jakob Hernandez, Mason Hernandez, Jase McCain, Josie McCain, Harlen McCain, Lane and Delilah Ezernack as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and his friend Billie Hicks.
Kenneth graduated from Jesuit High School in Shreveport, LA, attended college for short time and then spent thirty five years offshore traveling the world with Western Geophysical as a Coordinator in the seismic industry. After retiring, he attended Natchitoches Vocational school completing course work as an Electrician.
Kenneth enjoyed his westerns and John Wayne marathons. He was a huge fan of Jeopardy. He loved working crossword puzzles and was fond of making his rounds at Walmart, eating out, and spending time on Thursdays at “the office” with his friends. Most of all, he enjoyed the last thirty-three years spending time on his back porch at his home on Cane River making memories with his family.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Christopher Hernandez, Logan McCain, Eric Hernandez, Keith Hernandez, Corey Ezernack, and Brock Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Mitchell, Bruce Primm, Craig Burkhalter, and Joey Creamer.
