Lacy Laverne Williams Davis, 85, of Readhimer, Louisiana passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside on February 24, 2022 in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Laverne, our beloved Ma or Ma Verne, was a lifelong resident of the community of Readhimer and will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her father Clois James Williams, her mother Viler Izula Hasley Williams, and her great grandson Tyler Nelson. Laverne is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, J R Davis, who loved her dearly. She is also survived by two brothers Johnny Williams and wife Sue, and Edward Williams and his wife Ellen, two children, son Robert Davis, his wife Cathy, daughter Kathy Self and husband Dale, five grandchildren, Leslie Dawn Davis Nash and husband David, April Lynn Davis Nelson and husband Billy, Mathew Dillon and wife Melany, Kristen Myranda Dillon, and James Ross Davis, six great grandchildren, Lacy Smith, Aaron Conlay, Nigel Roberts, Kalei Nelson, Micah Dillon, and Jayden Nelson, and five great great grandchildren Ayden Smith, Devon Smith, Levi Conlay, Caleb Conlay, and Amiya Guin, and numerous nieces and nephews. Laverne loved her job. She worked for 40 years as the school secretary at many schools before retirement. Ma loved, and cherished, all of her babies, holding them, watching them play, and watching them grow up and have babies of their own. She loved flowers, her favorite were the pink roses. Pink was her favorite color. She loved candy, with her favorite treat being Hershey bars with almonds. She loved shopping and antiquing, making many trips with her late sister-in-law Helen Causey. Laverne set a good example for her family to have a Christian homelife, to attend Church, and to love others. She supported St. Jude Children’s Hospital and was a faithful giver. A service to honor her life will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Briarwood Baptist Church near Readhimer, LA. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Chestnut, LA. The family will receive friends after 5 pm on Saturday, February 26th at Briarwood Baptist Church. Honoring her as Pallbearers will be Ross Davis, Nigel Roberts, Billy Nelson, Matthew Dillon, David Nash, and Buddy Sullivan. Honorary Pallbearers are Dale Self, John Williams and Paul Darren Phillips.
