Larry Ray Broadwater, Sr.

Funeral Services for Larry Ray Broadwater, Sr. will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 in the chapel at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, Louisiana with Donnie Vercher serving as officiant. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, Louisiana. 

Larry, of Bossier City, Louisiana passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 19, 2025 following a brief illness. Larry was born on August 12, 1935 in Bogalusa, Louisiana to Elton Earl Broadwater, Sr. and Gladys Willis Broadwater. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 59 years, Judy Grayson Broadwater, his son Larry Ray "Rock" Broadwater, Jr., and his twin brother Barry Kay Broadwater, Sr. Larry is survived by his daughters Sharon Morgan and her husband Ward of Shreveport, Louisiana and Jennifer Elliott and her husband Dwayne of Benton, Louisiana. He is also survived by his brothers, Elton Earl Broadwater, Jr. and Willis “Bill” H. Broadwater as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He was the proud grandfather of Alexandra Harlow (Andrew), Maxwell Morgan, Olivia Morgan, Taylor Henry, Trevor Henry (Kennedy), Dalton Elliott (Mishka), Dylan Elliott (Mallory) and great granddaughters Foster and Greer Elliott and baby girl Harlow due in March.

Larry was an Army veteran serving in the Louisiana National Guard. He was a graduate of Northwestern State University. Larry spent most of his career working in the paper industry. He worked for the Willamette Paper Mill in Campti, Louisiana for over 30 years, retiring in 2002. After retirement he spent many happy years taking care of his beloved dog Trixie, his squirrels and birds. He had a green thumb and could grow anything. Larry will be remembered by so many for his infectious laugh and love of life. He never met a stranger.

The family extends their deep and heartfelt gratitude to Shannon Riley for her love, care and support.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are his grandsons Andrew Harlow, Maxwell Morgan, Taylor Henry, Trevor Henry, Dalton Elliott and Dylan Elliott. Honorary pallbearers are Elton Broadwater, Jr., Bill Broadwater, Frank Percy, Bob Ralston and Tyler Ralston.
