Graveside services for Larry Franklin Lindsey will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2024 at Provencal Cemetery in Provencal, La. with Rev. Paul Grace officiating.
Larry will be laid to rest beside the love of his life, his wife of 53 years, Judy, who preceded him in death by just 9 short months.
Larry was born July 12, 1948 in Natchitoches, La. He passed away June 21, 2024 at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his parents G.K. (Red) and Ona Mae Lindsey, grandparents Ben and Callie Lindsey and Rev. Frank and Alice Haley, two brothers Ben and Glenn Lindsey, father and mother in law Elvis and Ella Rhodes, sister in law Donna Lindsey, nephew Troy Lindsey and niece Charlotte Kelley.
Larry is survived by his daughter Angela Jennings and husband Chris, son Man Lindsey and wife Katie. His grandsons Christopher and Dylan Jennings, who were not just his grandsons but his best friends, hunting buddies and pool playing partners. Brother San Lindsey, sisters and brothers in law and their spouses, Betty Lindsey, Janice Boswell and Buddy, Louise Yopp and Randy, Robert Rhodes and Karen, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Larry proudly served in the US Army in the Vietnam War, where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He was Honorably discharged as a Sergeant and shortly after returning home he and Judy "ran off" to Mexico to get married. To say there was never a dull moment with Larry would be an understatement. He was known as a huge jokester and was always pulling pranks on family, friends, and coworkers. Almost anyone who knew him has been pranked at least once.
You have heard the saying "he would give you the shirt off his back", Larry truly would have given away every dime he made if it hadn't been for Judy. He couldn't stand to think someone might be in need when he had plenty.
He was loved and will be dearly missed.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Robert Earl Robertson, Gary Robertson, Joey Waters, Ricky Coe, Donald Holman and Randall O'Bannon.
Honorary Pallbearers will be coworkers from AT&T and his hunting buddies from Wild Road Hunting Club.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Provencal Christian Academy, a place he spent many hours volunteering. A special thank you to Hospice of Natchitoches for taking such great care of Dad.
