Larry Rufus Whitehead

Funeral service for Larry Rufus Whitehead will be at 10 am on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Buster Jordan officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Provencal Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Larry Rufus Whitehead, “Doc.”, 68 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, LA, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Grace Home in Shreveport, LA.  He was born April 25, 1950, in Natchitoches Parish to B.R. Whitehead and Evelyn Clary Whitehead of Provencal.  He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Evelyn and Donald Stephens of Kermit, TX; sister, Sara Wright; and in-laws, Lynell and Violet Nugent. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Nugent Whitehead of Natchitoches;  children, Larry H. Whitehead and wife Maria of Tracy, CA., Semme J. Whitehead, and Otis A. Wheatcraft, Jr., of Natchitoches; stepchildren, Kimberly and Christopher Garlington. He is Also survived by his father and mom, B. R. and Elsie Whitehead of Provencal; siblings, Bert Whitehead, Horace Whitehead, Diane Whitehead, Donna Beasley, and Becky Stephens; grandchildren, Jennifer Whitehead, Franklin Shepherd, III., Jason Garlington, and Abigail Garlington. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include, Brett Mobley, Chris Posey, Billy Womack, Jr., Chris Garlington, Jason Garlington, and Joey Longlois.
