Laura Simmons Rodriquez

Laura Simmons Rodriguez, 55 years of age and a resident of Shreveport, LA passed away on July 14, 2020, in Shreveport, LA. She was born on April 12, 1965 in Sacramento, CA to Ernesto Gardunio and Mary Katherine “Kathy” Taylor. Laura was a beloved mother, wife, nana, aunt, sister, and daughter. She worked as a daycare teacher at Bellaire Learning Academy for many years. Laura married Mario Rodriguez on February 13, 2016 after being together for many years. She was Mom to Terry Hinds and wife Brittany, Jay Simmons, Shelley Simmons, Michael Simmons and wife Shelby, and Vickie Rivers. She was affectionately known as “Nana” to Olivia, Aubree, Connor, Jadyn, Travis, Bentley, Jaelynn, Delaney, Colby, and Carter; as well as numerous family and friends that she loved like her own. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and enjoyed time spent together, especially taking trips to Six Flags in Dallas. She possessed a green thumb and took pride in taking care of her house plants. She will be dearly missed by everyone that knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathy Taylor; daughter, Shelley Simmons; and a son, Jay Simmons. A memorial service to honor her life will be held at Marthaville Cemetery on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at 6 PM.
