Leola Broadway Orsborn passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, April 15. She was born on October 12, 1924, and celebrated her 100th birthday last year. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Leola was known for seeing good and beauty in everything, a sense of humor, a love of travel, and a zest for life.
Leola is rejoicing now with her husband, Warren Davis Orsbon, and her daughter, Melba Orsborn Sparks. She leaves behind to cherish every memory, son-in-law, Freddy Sparks; granddaughter, Kayla Sparks Sewell and husband David Sewell; and grandson, Peyton Sparks and wife Ada Sparks. She is remembered by her wonderful great-grandchildren, Ricky Brazzel and wife Megin, Kamille Sparks; Daniel Sparks, Kait Mingo and husband Jude, Nic Brazzel, Kensli Brazzel, and Kamryn Brazzel. She was blessed with a great-great-grandchild, Solomon Mingo.
Leola attended the Provencal United Pentecostal Church. She was an active member, teaching Sunday School, participating in the Ladies Auxiliary, and attending many prayer meetings and church services. Her love for God's Word was well known, and she always reminded anyone she talked to to "read the Word!"
Leola taught at Provencal High School for 25 years. She loved to watch students learn. She prayed for her students daily and kept any child she taught on her forever prayer list.
Family was the joy in her life. She loved being with family, cooking meals, hosting reunions for her extended family, and playing games. Nothing made her happier than her family being home. She loved a good game of Farkle or Rummikub and would usually win. In her later years, she would delight in entertaining her kids and grandkids by quoting the books of the Bible, poems from her childhood, and touching her toes.
