Lillian Alice Taitano

Lillian Alice Taitano, age 92, died peacefully on February 10, 2025 at her home in Creston, Louisiana. She was born on July 31, 1932 in Holyoke, Massachusetts to Ovela D. Cournoyer and Alexandra Brzoska Cournoyer.

Lillian was a daughter in a military family spending time in many different places. In one such place, Guam, she met the man who would soon be her husband, Jesus “Jesse” M. Taitano. They were married for fifty-nine wonderful years until his passing in 2012. Lillian was a dedicated military wife following Jesse to numerous duty stations while raising their family. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother, to her four children, eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren, and a committed friend to many.

In her younger years Lillian was active in many organizations. She was a member of the Legend of Mary, Ladies Auxiliary, and jail ministry for Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Leesville, Louisiana. She was a member and past president of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Council 4156, and a charter member of the Vernon Parish Arts Council. Lillian also volunteered in the schools as a room mother, and chaperone on school trips for her children, a Cub Scout den mother, Brownie leader, and her children's biggest cheerleader.

Lillian is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, David J. Taitano, and sister, Claire Jordan.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Pamela Dobbs and husband Larry, Jesse Taitano and wife, Cindy, Lynn Quinn and husband, Glen. Grandchildren, Jessica Dobbs, Tara Rourke and husband, Jon, Cory Taitano, Rebecca Balcerek, and husband Randy, Shawn Taitano, Tristan Taitano, Wyatt Quinn, and Brayden Taitano. Great grandchildren, Makayla Matthews, Logan and Jaxson Krnavek, Jack and Tylie Rourke, Emmett, Russell and Connor Balcerek.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am on Friday, February 14, 2025 at The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Campti, LA.  Burial will be on Friday the 14th at 1:30 pm at The Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, LA.  The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with recitation of the Holy Rosary to be held at 6 pm.
