A service to celebrate the life of Lillie Mae Shoemaker will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Hickory Grove Congregational Methodist Church in Robeline, LA with Reverends Brian Jennings and Jim Freeman officiating. The family will receive friends at Hickory Grove from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Wednesday, April 10th and again from 10:00 AM until service time on Thursday. Interment will follow at Lambert Town Cemetery in Robeline, LA. Lillie, age 87, was born January 16, 1932, to Culver and Mary Alice Murray in Shamrock, LA. Lillie was an avid gardener who was known for her vegetables and beautiful flowers. She loved wildlife and the outdoors. In her younger years, she enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trapping. Lillie was a longtime member of Hickory Grove Congregational Methodist Church where she served as Adult Sunday School Teacher for many years. Lillie never had children of her own but loved and cherished each and every one of her nieces and nephews helping to raise some of them when they were children. Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rev. Raymond Shoemaker, nieces Sherrie Segura, Linda Villar, and Sandra Villar; and a great-niece Jessica Rachal. She is survived by three sisters: Mary Edna Collins of Natchitoches, LA; Nova Ruth Rachal of Houston, TX; and Barbara Nell Villar of St. Amant LA; a host of nieces and nephews, and two beloved “fur babies” Bo and Annie. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jerry Carnline, Robert Davis, Kevin Ensinger, Oscar Ensinger, Emmitt Greene, and Wayne Rachal.
