A service to celebrate the life of Lisa Ann Borders will be held at 10 am Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Committal service will follow at Ramah Cemetery in Ashland, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Lisa, age 49 and a resident of Natchitoches went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, November 18, 2018, after a courageous and faith-filled battle with cancer. She was born on May 2, 1969, to Margaret Holland Chesser and Morris T. Chesser in Shreveport, LA. She was preceded in death by her father. There are not enough words to describe the totality of the person that was Lisa. Lisa was truly a blessing and gift from God. Lisa was an extraordinary, compassionate, caring and selfless person that always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She was a “best friend” to so many because she made people and relationships a priority in her life. Lisa had an infectious smile, gorgeous, big green eyes, a pure, humble heart and a warm, loving personality that would light up any room. She was an eternal optimist. She had a genuine love for life and a greater love for the Lord. Lisa was a long time member of Trinity Baptist Church. She excelled in her work in the legal field, as she tirelessly worked to make the legal system better. She served Natchitoches Parish as a legal assistant/ judicial administrator to Desiree Dyess and the 10th Judicial District Court. She will be dearly missed but always remembered as a loving wife, a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, God-mother and friend. She is survived by her loving husband and soul mate, James Borders of Natchitoches; beloved mother, Margaret Chesser of Natchitoches; two big brothers, Terry Chesser (Mary) of Ashland and Jerry Chesser of Natchitoches; many special nieces and nephews but especially Kaleb Chesser, Jared Chesser, Brittany Borders, Lindsey Borders Broadway, Tyler Borders, Nash Duran, Beto Duran, Bobbi Leigh Lott, and Rachael Steadman; a host of great nieces and great nephews; her devoted in-laws, Avis and Ray Fletcher, loving sister-in-law Rebekah Borders and brother-in-law Shelby Borders; and her beloved fur-babies, Lazarus, Lexie, and Cracker Jack and a host of dear friends that considered her family. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Gabe Richmond, Blaine Murphy, Rhett Fitzgerald, Joe Columbia, Jared Chesser, Kaleb Chesser, Donald Mitchell, Roger Henson, Eric Moses, Preston Gilchrist, Johnny Ashlock. In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Scholarship in the Name of Lisa C. Borders has been set up through NSU Foundation, 535 University Parkway, Natchitoches, LA 71497.
