Lynwood Ray Powell, Sr. passed away peacefully on November 28, 2022 in Natchitoches, Louisiana at the age of 87. Lynwood (aka Dooley), the youngest of three children, was born in Natchitoches to Stonewall Jackson Powell and his wife Grace on October 4, 1935. After graduation from Natchitoches Central High School, Lynwood married his high school sweetheart Myrtle (nee Blanchard) and chose to serve his country by enlisting in the Navy for 10 years of honorable service. Lynwood and Myrtle traveled extensively during his time in the Navy before returning to settle and raise their family in their home town, where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern State University. He then began his career at Valley Electric Co-op, where he stayed until his retirement. Lynwood was an accomplished amateur photographer and lifelong avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He is survived by his beloved wife Myrtle and his children (Lynwood Jr., Donna, Jeffrey, and Jerry); grandchildren (Michael, Karey, Hannah, Kristopher, Grey, and Lyndsey); and great-grandchildren (Terry, Harley, and Lincoln). A visitation for Lynwood will be held at the Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home on Friday, December 2, 2022, from 9 am to 11 am. A chapel service will be held from 11 am to 12 pm followed by a procession to Memorial Lawn Cemetery. All are invited to attend.
