Mabel Moran Metoyer

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Mabel Moran Metoyer will be at 11 am Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cloutierville with Rev. Christian Ogbonna and Rev. John Cunningham serving as co-celebrants.  Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 9 am until 10:30 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:30 am. Mabel, 108 years of age, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018, in Natchitoches.  She was born on December 3, 1910, to Peter Moran and Attilia LaCour Moran in Derry, LA.  She was preceded in death by her husband August Metoyer, Sr., a son, August Metoyer, Jr. and her siblings, Sidney Moran, Lena Rachal, Ethel Roberts, Ernest Moran and an infant brother, Abe Moran.  She was a long-time member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was a founding member of the Altar Society at St. John’s.  She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Severin and husband John of Romeoville, IL, Artelia Dunn and late husband, Neal of Cloutierville; and Peter S. Metoyer and wife Anna of Long Beach, CA; two sisters, Dorena Huey and Henrietta Hackley.  She was blessed with five generations of family members including fourteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Tony Moran, Glenn Severin, Colby Dunn, Paul Severin, August Metoyer, III, Clinton Dunn, and Greg Dunn.
