Funeral services for Mr. Marion “Dickey” Brossette will be held at 10 am on Monday, November 14th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches. Burial will follow at Rachal Cemetery in Marco, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Sunday the 13th at Blanchard-St. Denis and again on Monday the 14th from 8 am until service time at the funeral home. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Rodney Salard, Jeffrey Brossette, Blaise Salard, Eric Coffman, Sean Moreau, and Gerald Salard. Dickey, 89 years of age and a long-time resident of Sulphur, LA, passed away on November 9, 2022 in Alexandria, LA. He was born on January 28, 1933 to Angles Brossette, Sr. and Lelia Lavespere Brossette in Cloutierville, LA. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Lane Brossette, his parents; 2 brothers and 4 sisters; and a step-daughter, Shirley Milstead. He is survived by his wife Jean (Troquille) Brossette; grandsons, Jeffrey Brossette, Brandt Brossette, and Jake Brossette; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dickey was a proud veteran of the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1956. He was a pipefitter by trade and a 54-year member of Local 106 that eventually became Local 198. He was a die-hard fan of all Louisiana sports teams including the Saints, LSU Tigers and the Pelicans. For many years he enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and teaching life skills to the young men he coached. His greatest passion was raising quarter horses and making the circuit of quarter horse racing across Louisiana. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed but always remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
