On Sunday, April 8th, 2018 Martha Christine Hayes Hampton, lovingly referred to as Granny went home to be with the Lord after a 16 year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on October 16th, 1930 to Earnest and Bessie Hayes in Coushatta, Louisiana and was the oldest of five children. She married Charles Larry “Buddy” Hampton on June 1st, 1948. They had three children; Charles Larry Hampton Jr., Susan Dianne Hampton Abraham, and Richard Todd Hampton. Funeral service for Martha Christine Hayes Hampton will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 12th, 2018 at Blanchard-St. Denis Chapel with Reverend Wayne Morrow and Reverend John Elliot officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 pm on the same day. Mrs. Hampton, 87, of Natchitoches, La., died Sunday, April 8th, 2018, in the Natchitoches Community Care Center of Natchitoches. Christine was born on October 16th, 1930 in Coushatta. She worked for many years in the old East Natchitoches Branch Post Office and later at Hancock Fabrics, also in Natchitoches. On June 1st, 1948 she married the love of her life and true cowboy Charles Larry “Buddy” Hampton of Natchitoches and raised three children. She is preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Hampton; grandson, James Daniel Abraham Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Whitney Christine Behan. She is survived by son Charles Hampton Jr and wife Carol of Natchitoches, La; daughter Susan Dianne Hampton Abraham and husband James of Cary, NC; son Richard Todd Hampton and wife Christina of Natchitoches, La; grandchildren Jennifer Hampton Behan, Elizabeth Hampton Johnston and husband Travis, Sandra Hampton Bergeron and husband Mark, Danny Abraham and wife Sheri, Chad Abraham and wife Tiffany, Brad Abraham and wife Sabrina, Christopher Hampton, Brooklyn Hampton; great grandchildren, Ariel Solomon, Savanna Behan, Phil Behan, Chase Johnston, Caleb Johnston, Cameron Bergeron, Crystal Bergeron, Caroline Bergeron, Cassidy Bergeron, Colton Bergeron, Addison Abraham, Kenzi Abraham, Anja Abraham, Hudson Abraham, Tucker Abraham, Kayla Abraham, and Natalie Abraham; a great-great grandson, Paxton Solomon; brother Turk Hayes; sisters Joyce Miller, Shirley Austin, Carol Brown; sister-in-law Francis Davis; brother-in-law Johnny Hampton and wife Ann. Pall bearers will be Dean Abraham, Jonathan Rhoads, Danny Abraham, Chad Abraham, Brad Abraham and Christopher Hampton.We would like to thank Dr. Archie Breazeale and his nurse Sheri Freyou, Legacy Hospice and the staff of the Kisatchie Wing of the Natchitoches Community Care Center.
