Martha Jean Howington Jordan passed away peacefully on March 19, 2021, at the age of 93; her devoted son John was by her side. Jean was born and raised in Buford, Georgia to the late Tifton Howington and Barbara Roberts Howington. She was preceded in death by her loving husband C. H. Jordan, Jr., who she met while attending Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia. Jean moved to C. H.’s home state of Louisiana following their wedding, where they spent the rest of their lives. Jean was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, attaining the rank of Worthy Grand Matron in 1984. After she retired from the DeSoto Parish school system, she enjoyed devoting her days to Eastern Star and volunteer work. Besides C. H., she is also preceded in death by her brothers Carl Howington and Grady Howington. Jean is survived by her son John (Susan), her grandchildren Cooper and Camille Jordan, as well as her sister Ruth Howington Compton and Reuben Howington, and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Jean will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Blanchard – St. Denis Funeral Home, 848 Keyser Avenue, Natchitoches, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. The family is thankful for the dedicated and diligent care of Jean by the staff of the Summerfield Senior Living of Hammond, Louisiana, where she enjoyed living for the last four years. Their kind and competent attention was a great comfort.
