A Mass of Christian burial honoring the life of Martha Kay Whitehead will be held June 20, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Celebrants will be Father Louis Sklar, Father Blake Deshautelle, Father Derek Ducote, and Deacon John Louis Whitehead. Burial will follow at the Catholic Cemetery in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Martha Kay was known to her friends as “Poochie,” and was born October 7, 1941 to John Pollock and Frances Opal Perot in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She passed away June 16, 2021 in Natchitoches, Louisiana, where she resided all her life. Poochie graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1959. She married Charles R. Whitehead, Jr. on June 2, 1960. She later graduated from Northwestern State University with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1980 and a M.S. in Business Education in 1982. Poochie served as President of the Service League of Natchitoches, 1977-78. Martha Kay is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles R. Whitehead, Jr., sons Charles R. Whitehead, III (Ronnell), John Louis Whitehead (Tara), daughter Mary Edith Stacy (Russell). She was known as Nana to her grandchildren, Charles R. “Ryan” Whitehead, IV, Colleen Hassell (Louis); Taylor Camargo-Patron (Carlos), Sarah Kay Lirette (Sam), Elizabeth Maggio (Vincent), and Kaylee Stacy; and one great-grandchild, Louis Gabriel Camargo-Patron. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Ryan Whitehead, Carlos Camargo-Patron, Sam Lirette, Vincent Maggio, Louis Hassell, and Steve Sanders. Honorary pallbearers are Ed Giering, and Donald G.
