A service to honor the life of Mrs. Martha Jane Lee Waters will be held at 1 pm on Monday, May 15,
2023 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Mary Elizabeth Waters-Smith officiating. Interment will
follow at Fern Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday the 15 th from 10 am until
service time at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Her grandsons are honored to serve as pallbearers.
Martha, 85 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away on May 11, 2023 with her family by
her side. She was born on July 30, 1937 to Rev. John Wesley Lee and Orpha Calk Lee in Grayson, LA. She
was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde Waters, Sr.; grandson, Kenny Roberts; and a
brother, Richard Lee.
She is survived by her children, Janet Johnson and husband Pete, Vickie Aaron and husband Stan, Cecil
Waters and wife Charlotte, Charles Waters and wife Kristi, Amy Hortman and husband Brett, Mark
Waters and wife Suzie, Michael Waters and wife Denise, and Matthew Waters and wife Judy;
grandchildren, Mandy Owens and husband Jason, Jeffrey Roberts, Stanley Aaron, Kyle Aaron and wife
Nicole, Alex Aaron and wife Stephanie, Hilari Forbes and husband Lane, Hannah Brown and husband
Chase, Misty Dawn Martin, Paige Gosnell and husband Daniel, Cody Gauntt, Colton Gauntt, Tyler
Hortman. Ryan Waters and wife Emma, Mary Elizabeth Waters-Smith and husband Tyler, Reuben
Waters, Samantha Waters, Andrew Waters, Chandler Waters and wife Jennifer, Nicholas Waters and wife Alyssa, and Anna
Grace Waters; her sisters, Hallie Cosenza and Sally Hebert; and brothers, Charles Lee, Lynn Lee, Tommy
Lee, and David Lee. She was blessed with 19 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and
nephews.
Martha worked many years as an Administrator for The Department of Children and Family Services in
Natchitoches. During her spare time, she enjoyed playing bridge and reached the level of Life Master.
She served as Director for the St. Denis Bridge Club in Natchitoches where she enjoyed spending time
with many wonderful friends. She and her beloved husband, Clyde, were long-time members of the
Cane River RV Club and enjoyed traveling across the United States. Martha was an avid photographer
and took many beautiful pictures during her journeys. A member of First United Methodist Church in
Natchitoches, during her later years she volunteered her time for functions held by the church.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Donna Jackson and Latosha Ballard for not
only being caregivers but also dear friends to our mother. Thanks to all who visited, sent cards, and
kept us in your prayers during the last few months. May God bless you all.
Donations to First United Methodist Church of Natchitoches in Martha’s name may be made in lieu of
floral contributions.
