Mary Lou Safford Begnaud

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Lou Safford Begnaud will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Natchitoches, Louisiana on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 1 pm. Officiating will be the Rev. Marc A. Noel. Burial will follow at American Cemetery in Natchitoches. Visitation will be at Holy Cross Catholic Church from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2021, with a Rosary immediately prior to the funeral mass. Mary Lou was born on May 16, 1931, and was a devout Catholic and loving mother. She was the last surviving child of James C. Safford, Sr. and Hilda Levert Safford, having been preceded in death by her siblings James C. Safford, Jr., Sister Margaret Safford, Alice Robertson and Yvonne “BeBe” Ebel. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Allen Begnaud and her granddaughter, Molly Mitchell Begnaud. Survivors include her children, Mark (Susan) Begnaud, Simone Sander, Jeannine (Steven) Sweitzer and Justin Begnaud, and her grandchildren, Melanie Byrne, Addison Sander, Zachary Begnaud, Delainey Robichaux and Kinley Robichaux, together with many dearly loved nieces and nephews. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Zachary Begnaud, Addison Sander, Brady Byrne, Dan Safford, Stuart Robertson, Karl Ebel and Chris Ebel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church (designated to the upkeep and maintenance of the Via Dolorosa and Prayer Garden), in which she spent hours too numerous to mention.
