A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Max (“Buddy”) Evans will be held at noon on Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Louis Sklar serving as celebrant, assisted by Father Blake Deshautelle. Burial will follow at American Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:45 am at Blanchard-St. Denis on Friday the 18th. Buddy, 87 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022. He was born on September 13, 1934 to Noah Otto Evans and Agnes Catherine Crayon Evans in Jonesboro, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents. Through the course of his life, he held many positions and was proficient with them all. His work life ranged from working for his father in a lumber yard, to managing a City Bank branch and later becoming a co-owner of several Texaco Convenience Stores. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do in order to be a good provider for his family. Outside of work, Buddy had a passion for working with the Sunshine Kids Foundation, an organization dedicated to children with cancer. He was a long-time parishioner of Immaculate Conception and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him. For 66 years, Buddy was a loving husband to his high school sweetheart, Daisy Broussard Evans. He was a devoted father to Mark Evans (Teresa), Steve Evans (Becky), Susan Adams (Charlie), and Celeste Goins (Mike); a “Papa” to Anne Marie Powers (Quinn), Catherine Bussey (Madison), Emily Lechman (Kyle), Sydney Duhe (Steven), Logan Adams, Andrew Adams, Shelby Adams, Katelyn Shapkoff, Noah Shapkoff and Brylee Goins. He was blessed with 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Joan Kelley and his sister-in-law, Mary Broussard. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Logan Adams, Andrew Adams, Noah Shapkoff, Francis Kelley, Quinn Powers, Kyle Lechman and Tim Todd. Memorials in his name may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Campti, LA or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
