Mildred Smith Lee

Funeral services for Mildred Smith Lee will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., in the Chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Thompson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time.  Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in the Indian Village Methodist Church Cemetery, 2096 LA-144, Calhoun, Louisiana. Mrs. Lee, 83, died Sunday, September 8, 2019, at the Natchitoches Community Care Center, Natchitoches, Louisiana She was a native of Choudrant, Louisiana.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was known as “Grammy” to her family. In high school, she played basketball and slow-pitch softball.  She worked as a telephone operator in Ruston and Natchitoches. She loved books and enjoyed reading.  She worked at the library in Arcadia and later in the Louisiana Room at NSU’s Watson Library.  She loved growing flowers, making arrangements, painting, and dancing. An important part of her life was showcasing God’s love.  She made an impact on the ones she loved most.  She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and a Master Gardener. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Alfonso Smith and Emma Virginia Nunn Smith; her husband, Aubra D. Lee, Jr.; her brothers: Raymond O. Smith (Bernice S. Smith), Raleigh W. Smith (Delane Watts Smith), Wayne Daulton Smith, Clinton W. Smith; her sister, Helen Mary Smith Gates (Robert Gates); and son-in-law, Wesley F. Tucker. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Aubra Lane “Butch” Lee and wife, Dayna B. Lee of New Orleans, Louisiana; daughters, Ellen Virginia Lee Tucker of Natchitoches, and Jana Gayle Lee Friesenhahn and husband Martin J.  Friesenhahn of New Braunfels, Texas; granddaughter, Lesley Virginia Tucker; step-grandchildren, Jeremy Seale and wife Colette and children, Jacob and Benjamin; Lauren Seale Gonzales and husband Junior and children, Alex, Aidan and Kaitlyn; Miranda Tucker Smith and husband Chris and children Ryan and Ali Moton; nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Natchitoches Community Care for their loving and compassionate care of their Mom and to Dr. Kathleen Kautz. Grammy was much loved and will be missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
