Myra Celeste Carter Shaeffer, born on September 25, 1958 and departed this life on February 10, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family.
Celeste devoted an impressive 34 years to Cane River Children's Services, where she served as Program Administrator. Throughout her career, she exemplified an all-encompassing love for the girls in her care, treating them as if they were her own. Her impact on their lives was profound, and the warmth she shared will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Celeste's personality was characterized by her big heart and graceful perseverance through life's trials. She approached her challenges with dignity and tenacity, fighting her illness to the very end. A devout Catholic, her faith guided her through her journey, providing strength and solace.
She is survived by her loving children: Joshua Shaeffer and his wife Taylor, Robert Hutson and his wife Courtney, Richard Shaeffer, Kevin Patterson, Vera Day, Jeneen Shaeffer, and Sheila Sepulvado. Myra's deep affection extended to her grandchildren: Cassie Day, Heather Day, Jayme Day, Marcus Sutherlin, Cameron Raila, Gavin Raila, Alexis Sepulvado, Nicholas Sepulvado, Maddie Grace Shaeffer, Declan Hutson, Kaden Hutson, and Patrick Patterson, as well as her great-grandsons, Oliver Day and Jax Raila. She is also survived by her cherished nephews, Robert B. Greer, III and Trey Gros; her niece, Susan Gros; her great-niece and great-nephew, Charlotte Mejia and Lucas Gros; and her dear Aunt Francis.
Celeste was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Edwin Carter and May Viva Childress Carter, and her sister, Alma Carter Gros.

Funeral service for Celeste will be held at 10 am on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Father Irion St. Romaine officiating. Burial will follow at Catholic Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.
