Nathan Jennings

December 28, 1938 — October 24, 2018

Nathan Vilton Jennings, 79 years of age and a resident of Marthaville, LA, passed away on October 24, 2018, after a sudden illness. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean A. Jennings; 2 sons, Phillip Edward Jennings and wife Sherri of Marthaville and Bradley Vilton Jennings and wife Lori of Shreveport; grandchildren, Philip Taylor Jennings of Winnsboro, Shelby Kate Jennings of Shreveport, Bradley Scott Jennings of Shreveport, Melanie Louise Jennings of Shreveport, and Gina Nichole Jennings of Shreveport; a great-grandchild, Ava Grace Jennings of Shreveport; siblings, Oscar K. Jennings and wife Mary Jean of Shreveport, Artie A. Dees of Baytown, TX, and Eureth McDaniel and husband Everett of Baytown, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, E. R. and Viola Stockton Jennings; and siblings, William F. Jennings, Ray C. Jennings, Austin Jennings, and Cleatus Jennings. In 1959, Nathan began his career working at Southern Sheet Metal and was employed for 25 years.  He had the opportunity to work at All Weather for the next 10 years and then entered into business with his sons at American Air for the next 13 years and ultimately retired in 2007.  Nathan was well known for his craftsmanship in sheet metal and copper design. Nathan enjoyed duck and squirrel hunting and white perch fishing on Toledo Bend.  Nathan had an infectious laugh.  He had the ability to add a “southern drawl” to any word.  He dearly loved his family.  Although he lived a simple life, he made a great impact on everyone he knew.  It can be said that Nathan had two speeds, full throttle and asleep.  He will be dearly missed. A service to honor his life will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Bethel Congregational Methodist Church in Pleasant Hill with Bro. Brian Jennings officiating.  Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Marthaville under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches.  The family will receive friends on the 27th from 10 am until service time at Bethel CMC in Pleasant Hill, LA.
