Dean Maley of Natchitoches went to Heaven on March 16, 2023, at Francois Bend Senior Living Facility in Gonzales, La. Dean was born on July 5, 1941, in Robeline, La. The Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on March 22, 2023 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with a funeral service to held at 11 am. Interment will follow at Jackson Cemetery, Flora, La. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Martin Harrington and Ruby Eulene Polk Harrington, and her loving husband William Eugene “Bill” Maley. She is survived by her son Martin Kevin “Marty” Maley, Sr. of Baton Rouge, La. She has two grandchildren, of whom she loved very much and was so proud, Martin Kevin Maley, II and William Elliot Maley, of Baton Rouge, La. She was a loving and devoted wife and mom. She graduated from Flora High, as salutatorian in May, 1959. After graduating from high school she attended Natchitoches Vocational School and got a certificate in Business. She held many administrative positions throughout her life, but she was most proud of her service to Northwestern State University at the Teacher Education Center. She never met a stranger and was always willing to share her faith in Christ, with any who would listen (John 3:16). She was raised Baptist, but later in life she and my father attended First United Methodist Church in Natchitoches, La. Her love and devotion to God, Family, and friends definitely defined who she was. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A Personal Note from Her to Me…. “Ollie Dean Harrington Maley, as a young child, attended a service preached by Rev. Billy Jackson, which was the Sunday night sermon. We were all there, including Papa Jess and my grandmother Frances Victoria Hardamon Harrington. When the invitation was given to accept Christ as your savior, I was sitting on the end of one of the pews. There was no one else sitting close to me (in the front, on the side or behind). All of a sudden I felt a tap on my shoulder, and I got up and went to the front of the church and gave my life to Jesus. Papa Jess, I think joined that night also. We were baptized in a stock pond close to Mr. Charlie Crump’s house. Not the cleanest water in the world, but it cleansed us.” Those honored to be Pallbearers are: Martin K. Maley, Sr., Martin K. Maley, II, William E. Maley, Billy Joe Harrington, Tony Harrington, Randy Pittman, Jr. In lieu of flowers, please donate to her favorite evangelist, The Billy Grahm Foundation (www.billygraham.org)
