Ottie Lee Bates Frech passed away July 4, 2018 at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray Utah at the age of 86. Ottie also known as Nan was born in Ashland Louisiana on November 18, 1931 to parents Issac and Philippiine Bates the oldest of two children. Ottie was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years James Harry Frech, brother Fred “Bud” Bates and parents Issac and Philippine. Ottie graduated St. Mary’s High School in 1950 in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She met serviceman Jim Frech while he was stationed at Fort Polk. They married in 1952 and had two sons, Gary in 1953 and Victor in 1958. In 1969 the family moved to Cortez Colorado, but in 1985 her southern roots drew her back home and she and Jim moved back to Natchitoches. She lovingly cared for Jim for 20 years after his stroke and was dedicated to him until his passing. Ottie is survived by son, Gary and his wife Vicki Frech of Herriman Utah; her grandsons David Frech, Jeremy Olson and Nathan Olson; son Victor Frech of Murray Utah and grandchildren Parker Frech, Taylor Frech and Haylee Frech as well as 9 great-grandchildren. Ottie was very active in her church and loved to serve. Her primary focus was spending time with her growing family. She also loved to garden and kept an immaculate yard and vegetable garden. One word to describe our Mother would be Sweet. She had a welcoming smile and an irresistible laugh. She was a great example to everyone in which she came into contact. She loved her family and the Lord. The family will receive friends at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home on Friday July 13th from 8:00 AM to 10:15 AM followed by a graveside service at Fern Park Cemetery at 10:30 AM.
