Retha Masters Carney Upchurch Smith

Graveside service for Mrs. Retha Masters Carney Upchurch Smith will be at 2 pm Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Vowells Mill, LA with Bro. Josh Currie officiating. Retha, 84 years of age and a resident of Flora, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018 in Shreveport, LA.  She was born on March 10, 1934 to Jefferson and Effie Honeycutt Masters.  She was predeceased by her parents; husbands, Wilmer Carney, Edward Upchurch, and Clarence Smith; a son, Rickey Carney; and sisters, Cleo Alford and Donna Davis. She is survived by her children, Lonny Carney, Sr. of Provencal, Peggy Hernandez and husband Bruce of Flora, Katherine Slaughter and husband Raymond of Provencal, and Martha Gilcrease of Natchitoches; two sisters, Minne Slaughter and Dena Massey; step-children, Deborah Fuller and Carl Upchurch; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Derek Slaughter, Joey Allen, Tanner Hernandez, Alex Caspari, Nathan Slaughter, Lonny Carney, Jr., Andrew Caspari, and Caleb Caspari.
